Statue of Unity, an amazing experience.

Statue of Unity.

We welcomed 2019 by visiting the Statue of Unity. This visit to the statue was an amazing experience. And, to absorb the feelings in its true spirits, one must experience the statue in person.

Words cannot describe this experience of being at the statue. But, a few adjectives are overwhelming, monumental, imposing, and impressive.

The Statue of Unity is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. Sardar Patel was a statesman par excellence. And, he is considered the architect of modern India. That the statue is the worlds’ tallest is no surprise.

The Statue of Unity is an Engineering Marvel.

Our daughter wrote about her experience as below.

When I think of Gujarat or Gujarati people. I think of Garba, delicious food and snacks, and colorful chaniya cholis. I think of warm welcoming families that are wired to treat me as their own, even upon the first introduction. It is no wonder that Gujarat is home to the marvelous Statue of Unity.

The statue commemorates the independence activist and former deputy prime minister (first home minister) of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophies of non-violence, this freedom fighter led the nation to unite and grow independent.

It was a pleasure to celebrate his noteworthy accomplishments in the form of the tallest statue of the world. It stands 182 meters tall, in the banks of river Narmada, surrounded by astounding views of hills and valleys.

We were happy visiting the Statue of Unity. Because this visit to the statue was a truly amazing experience.

A ‘bucket list’ experience, indeed!
