K. Vaitheeswaran, the author of Failing to Succeed answers ‘I do not know’ to the question about his bitterness. There is, however, a good portion of bitterness in his book. The reason for this can be possibly found in his statement: What really hurt was the way we died? There are wonderful insights into every aspect of the value chain of the e-commerce industry. The book includes plethora of ideas – small & big, dos & don’ts, strategies & tactics, and much more for the e-commerce industry & players. Vaithee has poured his entrepreneur life’s experiences out in 200 pages & he has strong, very strong views. Unfortunately, almost every chapter oozes ‘why me’ and some negativity. Why do we judge when mentoring “We seek advice and we get (sic) judgments.” said an Indian entrepreneur at a dinner table at one of the startup events I had attended. Why does this happen? Why do we judge when mentoring? Mentoring is a fine skill. It is not for everyone. A good mentor guides his/her mentee to solutions. Managing, on the other hand, is relatively operational by nature. The three reasons why we judge when mentoring are: A parent-child relationship approach by the mentor A parent-child relationship involves the full extent of a child’s development.
